The Region

Provence, located in the south of France, is one of France’s most beautiful and enchanting regions.  An undulating and sometimes mountainous terrain, walled villages, vineyards, orchards and rows of lavender jostle for their place on hillsides and river flats.   In May the fields of Provence are alive with thousands of Flanders poppies and a rich array of wildflowers.  Cherry trees are in full fruit and rosemary and thyme grow wild in the fields.

Provence boasts a long history of inspiring creativity and thought, with writers such as Marcel Pagnol, F. Scott-Fitzgerald, Somerset Maugham, Daudet and Collette producing some of their greatest works here.

Renowned for its cloudless blue skies and luminescent light, Provence captured the imaginations of Cezanne, Van Gogh and Picasso.  As it will your imaginations.

Nestled in the Luberon, the pearl of Provence, our retreat, your home, is located 3kms from the delightful village of Lourmarin. Replete with lively cafes, vibrant markets, a thriving artistic community and the first Renaissance chateau built in Provence, Lourmarin will enchant you, as it did Albert Camus, the French writer and thinker who made his home here.

Learning requires time for reflection and integration. We know of no better environment for this than the warm and inviting atmosphere of Provence.
